South Africa's Cape Town & Rovos Rail
Enjoy a week-long scenic voyage through South Africa that includes stylish accommodation in Cape Town and Johannesburg as well as a fantastic rail journey aboard a luxury train.
Your cross-country experience begins in Africa’s favourite city – Cape Town – where you have the advantage of centrally located accommodation and an inclusive full-day Cape Point tour.
Then you travel across the wildly diverse landscapes of South Africa with Rovos Rail, the world’s most luxurious train. Enjoy the ever-changing views from the train window as the scenery rolls by on your way to Pretoria. You will then transfer to Johannesburg and spend a comfortable night in a fashionable neighbourhood of this famous city.

Arrive at Cape Town International Airport where you will be met and transferred in a private vehicle to the ultra-luxurious Ellerman House, a magnificent cliffside property that boasts spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean.
After checking in and freshening up, spend the rest of the day exploring Cape Town’s many colourful shops, museums, galleries and boutiques. Ellerman House is also close to top beaches at Clifton and Camps Bay.
On day two, a driver will pick you up for a private full-day tour of Cape Point. The tour takes you past the city’s famous Camps Bay and Clifton beaches, over Chapman’s Peak Drive, to the famed Cape Point famous for being the cause of many shipwrecks throughout history. After exploring Cape Point, see the penguin colonies of Boulders Beach in the seaside naval village of Simon’s Town.
Spend the rest of your time in Cape Town exploring the many sights including Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch Gardens, the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, and the Constantia Wine Route.

Train is definitely something I would recommend (I liked that we did the Pretoria-Vic Falls way (as opposed to the other way around) since it gave us a sense of “destination”.
Transfer to Cape Town Station and board Rovos Rail’s ‘Pride of Africa’ for your journey to Pretoria. Depart and spend the rest of the day at leisure aboard ‘The Pride’ – the South African steam train regarded as perhaps the most luxurious in the world. This is one of the most stylish and comfortable ways to view the ever-changing South African landscape – sit back and let the scenery unfold as you glide north.
You will Stop off in the quaint Karoo town of Matjiesfontein early on the first morning for a brief visit to this historical railway town before lunch in the dining car as you continue on through picturesque scenery.
Shortly after breakfast on the second morning you will arrive in the diamond town of Kimberley. Here you will spend the morning visiting the famous Big Hole and the Diamond Museum. You will also enjoy a trip on an old-fashioned tram.
Upon returning to the train, lunch will be served and you will spend one more night onboard until you arrive in Pretoria the next morning.

Once you have arrived in Pretoria and disembarked the train, you will be met and transferred to Johannesburg to check in at the Saxon Boutique Hotel & Spa, whose grace and elegance match that found on the train.
