Born in Cape Town, South Africa, my travels began at 16 when my family and I spent a year sailing up the South American coast on our yacht. After completing my studies, I worked as a tour guide , travelling through Southern and East Africa on mobile camping safaris. I then moved back to Cape Town and guided tours around the city, Winelands, and Garden Route. I’ve been with Go2Africa for more than a decade and relish my role as an Africa Safari Expert.
Some of the most beautiful sunsets in Africa can be seen in the Okavango Delta in Botswana. On one of my recent trips to this region, I enjoyed a solo boat trip in the Moremi National Park. My guide took me on a late afternoon boat ride on a lagoon, which was just magical with elephants, hippos, and many birds in the area.
On our return trip to camp, with the sun close to setting, my guide stopped the boat at the edge of the lagoon so I could enjoy the sunset in silence. The beauty of the landscape at this time of day, with its changing colours and increasing beauty before the sun sank into the horizon, will forever remain with me.
I arranged for a client to visit the site where her favorite wildlife show had been filmed. This was a dream come true for her, and she is now planning her fourth trip to Africa with Go2Africa!
Another wonderful experience was assisting clients with a private wedding for just the two of them in the Kruger Park. The couple spotted a cheetah on the way to their ceremony, with their vows being made on a raised wooden deck overlooking the African bush. They then enjoyed a two-week tailor-made honeymoon safari in South Africa, Botswana, and Zimbabwe.
Africa works on ‘African time', somewhat like ‘island time', where sometimes not every detail goes according to schedule. It's a reminder to slow down – you are on vacation after all!
African people are naturally warm and friendly and enjoy engaging in conversation. Your safari guide will have a wealth of information and knowledge to share. Ask lots of questions, not only about the animals but also about the culture and history of an area to get a more in-depth understanding of the country you are travelling in.
Many travellers know that Africa can be hot and come prepared for this; however, we can also have chilly nights, especially in our winter months. Pack a warm jacket and a ‘beanie' or knitted hat for those cool mornings on the open-air game drive vehicles.
Combine three of Botswana's top wildlife destinations. Expect excellent, up-close game viewing.
An ideal honeymoon combination: enjoy both the bush and the beach. Track the Big 5 in a private concession adjoining the Kruger National Park.
Rhino conservation in Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. Stay in exquisite accommodation throughout.
