Born and raised in Johannesburg, I've always felt drawn to the embrace of nature. For many years I called Hoedspruit, a town near Kruger National Park, home and immersed myself in the wonders of the Lowveld bush.
Now, settled in Cape Town, my compass still guides me towards adventure. With the heart of an explorer, I find joy in both untamed wilderness and the vibrant pulse of urban life. I've been deeply rooted in the hospitality industry for many years now, embracing every opportunity to connect with people and nature. Since joining Go2Africa, I've discovered a new passion for sharing my love for travel and exploration with adventurers from around the globe.
In the heart of the African wilderness, where every termite mound tells a story of resilience and life, I discovered a hidden treasure just meters from my doorstep. What appeared to be a mere old, dried-out mound revealed itself as the bustling home of a family of wild dogs, their playful pups adding a new dimension to the landscape.
As I spent countless hours observing this extraordinary family, they graciously allowed me into their world, their curiosity tempered by a cautious familiarity. Though we maintained a respectful distance, our connection grew with each passing moment, forging bonds of understanding and mutual respect.
Amidst the wilderness, where time seems to stand still, I found myself immersed in moments of pure wonder and awe. Watching the wild dogs navigate their world with grace and determination, I was reminded of the delicate balance of life and the profound beauty of nature’s intricacies.
And as I savoured the simple pleasure of a barbecue under the vast African sky, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the bush, I realized that in the company of wild creatures, every experience becomes a new adventure, every moment a cherished memory. Truly, it was a journey of discovery and connection that will forever be etched in my heart.
A couple I sent on safari were celebrating their wedding anniversary in the Masai Mara and had always dreamed of seeing the African savannah from above. However, they hadn’t asked for it to be added to their itinerary. I decided to organise a surprise hot air balloon ride for them, complete with champagne breakfast upon landing for an unforgettable, romantic moment. The sheer joy and wonder on their faces made it a truly memorable experience for everyone involved.
The best advice I can offer is to stay flexible and be prepared for unexpected changes of plan – anything can happen on safari. Connect with locals and your guides to learn more about African cultures, traditions, and heritage. And finally, don't forget to capture special moments you want to commit to memory with a camera or even a smartphone.
