Born and raised in Cape Town, my passion for travel was ignited at an early age. Currently residing in Mauritius, I’ve had the privilege of exploring the diverse landscapes and rich wildlife of Southern and East Africa extensively since 2008. With over 15 years of experience in the safari industry, my journey has taken me to some of the most breathtaking destinations on the continent. For the past five years, I have been working with Go2Africa, where I have been able to share my love for adventure and the natural world with others, helping them to create unforgettable safari experiences.
During one of my gorilla treks, I experienced a moment that will forever be etched in my memory. Although visitors are not permitted to approach the gorillas closely, the same rules do not apply to them. In an unforgettable encounter, a wild mountain gorilla, seemingly in a hurry, ran straight into me. The brief yet profound touch of this magnificent creature left me in awe. Moments like these remind me of the incredible, unpredictable beauty of the wild, and why I am so passionate about sharing these experiences with others.
One of my most memorable experiences was arranging for a couple to get married at the summit of Kilimanjaro. This unique celebration of love and adventure perfectly encapsulated the magic that safari experiences can offer, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Moments like these are what make my work so rewarding, as I get to help create extraordinary, once-in-a-lifetime experiences for travellers.
Bring along a travel journal or notebook. While it may seem like a quaint idea in the age of digital photography, a journal allows you to capture more than just images—it’s a space to record your thoughts, emotions, and the small details of your safari experience. From the sights and sounds of the bush to personal reflections on encounters with wildlife and local cultures, a journal preserves moments that photos alone may not fully capture. It becomes a cherished keepsake, offering a deeper connection to your journey long after you’ve returned home. What could be more satisfying than sitting around the campfire, under the stars, jotting down the happenings of the day and reliving the magic of your safari adventure?
