A born Capetonian and proud Go2African since 2015, my journey began as part of the graduate programme turned consultant, team lead, and now manager. My personal journey has entailed a lot of exciting travel through South Africa, Botswana, Vic Falls, and Kenya. When I'm not travelling, I love running and doing yoga. But, of course, my primary passion is going on safari and I'm looking forward to seeing where the wind takes me next.
One of my very best moments while out experiencing the beauty of our African landscapes was in the Kalahari in Botswana. We went on a quad biking adventure as a late afternoon activity and drove on a deserted dried up salt pan. We stopped to admire our surrounding and you could see desert for as far as the eye could see – so far and wide that you could see the curve of the earth. My words won't do it justice, but it was quiet in a way I'd never experienced. It was so empty of things and yet so beautiful; it was calm, it was moving, and I will never forget it.
Remember to be present during your safari activities and connect. Sure, take photos and videos of your experience, but don't forget to also put the camera and phone down to experience things through your own eyes and with your heart. Be moved by what Africa has to offer. Nothing is forever and how you feel, and felt in the moment, may have more of an impact on your life than a photo.
